About the Opportunity

Executive Hurdles Recruitment is supporting a well-established global technology business seeking an experienced UK Account Manager – Public Sector to manage and grow relationships across UK government and public sector accounts.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven technology sales professional with a strong background in networking, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or service assurance solutions. The role is quota-carrying and focused on direct engagement with public sector customers, working alongside experienced technical colleagues and channel partners to deliver high-value, complex technology solutions.

The successful candidate will take ownership of an assigned public sector territory, build trusted relationships at multiple stakeholder levels, develop a robust pipeline, and work closely with internal Sales Engineers to position the right solutions into some of the UK's most critical government environments.

​

This opportunity would suit candidates with proven experience selling into UK central government, local government, or related public sector bodies, who are comfortable managing long, complex sales cycles and growing strategic accounts over time.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and develop sales activity across assigned UK public sector accounts

  • Sell directly to government and public sector customers, including where business is fulfilled through channel partners

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across multiple stakeholder levels within target accounts

  • Understand each customer's business, technical environment, operational challenges, and procurement processes

  • Position relevant solutions around network visibility, cybersecurity, service assurance, and performance management

  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of new and existing account opportunities (targeting approximately 4x quota coverage)

  • Prospect consistently across both new and established accounts

  • Work closely with Sales Engineers to ensure effective technical positioning and ongoing customer support

  • Manage complex sales cycles from initial engagement through to close

  • Maintain accurate forecasting, account planning, and opportunity management within company systems

  • Work collaboratively with internal teams and channel partners to support successful customer outcomes

  • Follow company strategy and contribute to wider public sector growth plans

Required Skills & Experience

​

Essential:

  • 5+ years' sales experience within networking, cybersecurity, IT infrastructure, or enterprise technology solutions

  • 5+ years' experience within the IT industry

  • Proven experience selling into UK public sector, central government, local government, or related public bodies

  • Strong understanding of complex government procurement processes, sales cycles, and stakeholder engagement

  • Demonstrable track record of consistent quota achievement and territory growth

  • Proven ability to develop and manage a strong sales pipeline, ideally around 4x quota coverage

  • Strong experience managing large, complex accounts directly

  • Ability to build trusted relationships across senior, technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders

  • Strong new business development skills with the ability to identify, pursue, and close opportunities

  • Experience working collaboratively with Sales Engineers, channel partners, and internal technical teams

  • Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship management skills

  • Ability to travel across the UK as required, with occasional wider travel if needed

  • A degree in Computer Science, Technology, Business, or a related field would be advantageous
