About the Opportunity

Executive Hurdles Recruitment is supporting a specialist engineering and manufacturing organisation seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager / Sales Engineer to support continued growth across the UK market.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially focused technical sales professional to join a business with a strong reputation within fluid power and motion control solutions. The role combines technical engineering expertise with relationship-led sales activity, supporting both new business development and existing account growth across a broad industrial customer base.

The successful candidate will act as a key link between customers and internal engineering teams, delivering tailored technical solutions, product support, and long-term account development.

 

This opportunity would suit candidates with previous engineering sales, hydraulics, fluid power, or motion control experience who enjoy a customer-facing, technically consultative sales environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Develop new business opportunities across the UK engineering and manufacturing sectors

Manage and grow existing customer relationships and key accounts

Respond to customer enquiries with technical quotations and tailored engineering solutions

Deliver on-site technical support, demonstrations, and fault-finding assistance

Collaborate with internal engineering and technical teams on bespoke applications

Manage long-term sales projects from enquiry through to completion

Prepare reports, sales activity updates, and quotation tracking documentation

Support exhibitions, customer product training, and technical presentations

Handle customer feedback professionally and maintain high service standards

 

Required Skills & Experience

​

Essential:

Previous experience within technical sales, engineering sales, or area sales management

Strong knowledge of hydraulics, fluid power, motion control, or related engineering systems

Excellent communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills

Experience delivering technical presentations and customer training

Commercially driven with strong account management capabilities

Confident using Microsoft Office and CRM/ERP systems

Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationally
