About the Role

Executive Hurdles Recruitment is pleased to be supporting an award-winning hospitality and leisure business in the Lake District to appoint a People Business Partner – Employee Relations.

​

This is a hands-on, operational role within an established People team, supporting managers and employees across a busy, customer-focused environment. The organisation operates a high-quality estate including luxury accommodation, spa, leisure, and food & beverage outlets.

​

You will play a key role in managing day-to-day employee relations matters, ensuring cases are handled consistently, professionally, and in line with UK employment law.

​

This opportunity is ideally suited to an HR professional with solid ER case management experience, who is confident working closely with line managers in a fast-paced, operational setting.


This role would suit candidates currently working as an HR Advisor, Employee Relations Advisor, or Junior HR Business Partner within hospitality, retail, leisure, or similar high-volume environments.

 

Key Responsibilities


Employee Relations Case Management:
Act as a primary point of contact for ER matters, managing a wide range of cases including grievances, disciplinary issues, conduct concerns, and performance management.


Investigations:
Lead and support investigations, ensuring a fair, consistent, and thorough approach in line with company policy and employment law.


Manager Support & Guidance:
Provide clear, practical advice to line managers on handling employee issues, policies, and procedures, building confidence and capability in people management.


Performance & Conflict Resolution:
Support managers with performance-related matters and workplace conflicts, offering guidance to achieve appropriate and timely resolutions.


Policy & Compliance:
Assist in reviewing and updating HR policies and procedures to ensure alignment with current employment legislation and best practice.


Collaboration with People Teams:
Work closely with Talent Acquisition on onboarding processes and with Learning & Development to identify training needs related to employee relations and management capability.


Employee Engagement:
Support initiatives that promote a positive working environment and strengthen employee engagement across the business.


Reporting & Administration:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date ER records, ensuring documentation is compliant and audit-ready. Prepare reports as required.


Continuous Improvement:
Keep up to date with employment law developments and contribute to ongoing improvements within the People function.


Wider HR Support:
Provide support to the Head of People & Culture on additional HR projects and activities as required.

Required Skills & Experience

  • CIPD Level 5 qualified, or currently working towards

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in an Employee Relations or HR Advisory role

  • Experience within a fast-paced environment (hospitality, retail, leisure, or similar preferred)

  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and HR best practice

  • Proven experience managing ER cases including disciplinary, grievance, and performance issues

  • Ability to provide clear, practical advice to managers on people matters

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Well-organised with strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping

  • Proactive, approachable, and solutions-focused

  • High levels of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality
