EHI Routing Design Leader – Derby | Senior Systems Engineer – Pitstone

Two specialist engineering appointments within a leading engineering services business working across advanced rail and aerospace programmes — developing electrical harness installation solutions for train design and pioneering electric and hybrid-electric power systems for next-generation aircraft.

 

Role 1 — EHI Routing Design Leader

A full-time, permanent appointment based in Derby — with an initial training period of 4 to 6 months at a facility in Toulouse, France before the role relocates to Derby. Candidates must be willing and able to commit to the Toulouse training period before applying.

  • Salary: £55,000 – £60,000

  • Type: Full-time, Permanent

  • Location: Derby (following initial 4–6 month training period in Toulouse, France)

  • Start: As soon as possible

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing EHI resources and activities across the project

  • Delivering the complete electrical case or set of electrical deliverables for each baseline and retrofit

  • Delivering harness 3D models from mechanical integration

  • Managing EHI quality, cost and delivery performance

  • Managing EHI workload with effective utilisation of harness designers and sub-contractor management

  • Applying metier rules and processes across all harness design workload

  • Building and developing EHI technical competency within the team

 

What we're looking for:

  • Electrical engineering degree — essential

  • 5+ years' total experience in electrical engineering — essential

  • 2+ years' activity management experience

  • 2+ years' team management experience

  • 3+ years' Electrical 3D CAD experience

  • Train system and harness integration knowledge — preferred

  • Understanding of industrial and harness manufacture

  • Fluent English — French language skills preferable

  • Willingness to undertake a 4–6 month training period in Toulouse, France — essential

Role 2 — Senior Systems Engineer

 

A 12-month Fixed Term Contract based at a Centre of Excellence in Pitstone, within a team focused on developing advanced electrical power generation, distribution and propulsion systems for hybrid-electric and full-electric aircraft.

  • Salary: £55,000 per annum

  • Type: 12-month Fixed Term Contract (Inside IR35 at £50 p/h would be considered)

  • Location: Pitstone — Centre of Excellence

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading systems engineering work packages to schedule, budget and quality

  • Defining and managing system requirements with customers and multidisciplinary teams

  • Developing system architectures, performing trade studies and supporting system integration

  • Overseeing subsystem development and requirements flow-down

  • Leading verification, validation and compliance activities throughout the system lifecycle

  • Acting as the primary customer interface for system development and performance decisions

 

What we're looking for:

  • Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Aerospace, Systems or related discipline) or equivalent experience — essential

  • Proven experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle — essential

  • Experience with electrical power generation, distribution or electrical propulsion systems — strongly preferred

  • Experience with aircraft systems or other complex safety-critical products

  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and processes

  • Experience leading technical reviews, workshops and customer meetings within the aerospace sector

  • Knowledge of system architecture definition, functional analysis, requirements management and V&V planning

  • Windchill requirements management tools experience (advantageous)

  • Familiarity with ARP4754 (desirable)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder communication skills
