Location: Hayes / Hybrid (4 Days Office, 1 Day Remote) | Full-time, Permanent

 

About the Opportunity

Executive Hurdles Recruitment is supporting a market-leading international consumer brand with the recruitment of an experienced Payroll Manager to join their collaborative HR and Finance team in Hayes.

This is a hands-on, end-to-end payroll role with genuine autonomy and responsibility — taking ownership of payroll across two UK entities and acting as the go-to expert for payroll queries, compliance, and process improvement. You will work closely with HR and Finance stakeholders, ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in full compliance with UK legislation.

This opportunity would suit a seasoned payroll professional with strong Workday experience who is looking to join a well-established, successful international business with a supportive culture and an excellent benefits package.

Please note: Applicants must hold UK citizenship or settled status (right to work in the UK without sponsorship). This role requires the ability to commute comfortably to Hayes and work from the office four days per week.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing end-to-end monthly payroll for two UK companies

  • Processing salaries, bonuses, commissions, benefits, pensions, and deductions

  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC, UK payroll legislation, and company policies

  • Preparing payroll reports along with P45s, P60s, and P11Ds

  • Reconciling payroll data and resolving payroll queries and discrepancies

  • Liaising with HMRC, pension providers, and auditors

  • Administering private medical and pension schemes

  • Maintaining and improving payroll processes using Workday

  • Supporting payroll system implementations or transitions as required

 

Required Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience managing end-to-end UK payroll (5+ years)

  • Strong Workday payroll experience — this is essential for the role

  • Excellent knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax, pay elements, calculations, and compliance

  • Advanced Excel and Office 365 skills

  • High attention to detail with strong analytical ability

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain payroll matters clearly to non-payroll audiences

  • Right to work in the UK — UK citizenship or settled status required

Desirable:

  • Experience supporting payroll system implementations or transitions

  • Exposure to managing payroll across multiple entities
