Senior Solutions Engineer – Internal Technology

Oxford | Hybrid (3 days per week in office) | Up to £75,000 + 10% Bonus | Full-time, Permanent

A senior technical appointment within the Internal Technology team of a rapidly growing energy research and analytics business in Oxford — combining deep Microsoft 365 expertise with a strong focus on senior stakeholder engagement and project delivery.

This is a newly created role, designed to bring dedicated senior engineering capability into the team and free up capacity across the wider function. It is a 50/50 hands-on and stakeholder management position. The successful candidate will work directly with senior business stakeholders across the organisation, so communication skills and the ability to translate technical solutions into clear, business-relevant language are as important as technical depth.

The role sits within the Engineering Team under the Architecture and Engineering function, focusing on the design, delivery, continuous improvement and escalation support of core Microsoft 365 services. Intune / Microsoft Endpoint Manager experience is preferred — the business is at the initial stages of its Intune rollout — though strong broader Microsoft 365 expertise will be considered for the right candidate. Project management experience, even at a smaller scale, is highly desirable.

Engineering Excellence

  • Lead by example with a proactive, detail-focused engineering mindset

  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to the operational and professional growth of the Internal Technology team

  • Share technical knowledge and help shape how technology is delivered across the organisation

  • Stay current with the evolving Microsoft technology landscape and provide strategic insight on new solutions

Project Delivery

  • Lead projects that enhance or extend the technology landscape

  • Gather requirements, design robust solutions, manage technical risk and ensure successful outcomes

  • Contribute to Sprint delivery and backlog management with minimal supervision

Stakeholder Engagement & Efficiency

  • Work directly with senior business users and Internal Technology colleagues to understand requirements and design effective solutions

  • Optimise Microsoft technology configuration in alignment with business goals and employee experience

System Ownership & Governance

  • Take ownership of specific platforms within the Microsoft ecosystem

  • Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks and knowledge articles

  • Contribute to raising the bar for documentation quality and operational governance
